The confidence score: what we measure and why
A single number for something as human as confidence sounds reductive. Here's how we keep it honest.
Why a number at all
Confidence is a feeling, and feelings are hard to steer. But the behaviors that produce confidence — reps attempted, hard scenarios survived, criteria passed — are countable. The score is a mirror for those behaviors, not a judgment of your soul.
The point of the number is direction, not precision. Is it climbing? Then whatever you're doing is working. That feedback loop is what keeps practice alive after the novelty fades.
What actually moves it
Consistency counts more than brilliance: showing up daily moves the score more than one great session. Difficulty counts too — surviving a hard persona at level four teaches more than acing an easy one, and the score knows the difference.
What doesn't move it: streaks alone. We tried scoring pure attendance early on and it produced busywork. The score follows demonstrated skill, with practice volume as the engine, not the destination.
The score is yours
One rule we hold: on the consumer app, your score is yours. On team plans, managers see growth and participation — trends, not transcripts. Measurement should make people braver in practice, and that only works when practice stays safe.
